Male Northern Harrier with contrails at dusk

I made it out to shoot after about an 8-week hiatus.  It’s good to be back!

Near the end of the shooting day at the Ridgefield NWR, Oct. 28, 2016, I spotted this male Northern Harrier at a good distance.  When I got home to check out the image on the computer, I noticed the spider webs caught on the wings which immediately reminded me of airliner contrails.  These webs also tend to cling to my vehicle as I make my way around the 4-mile auto loop.  The webs are often accompanied by small spiders which love to make their way into the vehicle through the open windows.  It’s the season for these webs but they’ll fade out once the temperature drops in the winter months.
